In February 2011, Wayne Sladek introduced me to the GogLeHiTe wetland along the Nisqually River at the Lincoln Ave bridge. I went back several times in the next month or so to photograph gulls and other birds. A rendering plant just north of the site attracts a variety of large gulls, mostly Glaucous-winged but also Thayer's and Herring and various hybrids, which I've tried to photograph and identify.

Not sure what kind of gull this is. I'd guess Herring from the mantle and wingtip color except for the rather dark eye and the P9 window (which western Herring usually lacks). Too much black in wingtip for Thayer's.

Probably a Glaucous-winged x Herring based on nearly-black wingtips with just a trace of P9 window, and eye color intermediate between Glaucous-winged and Herring.

Another likely Glaucous-winged x Herring due to fairly dark eye and not-quite-black wingtips.

A pale-eyed Thayer's Gull? Possibly a Herring x Thayer's though the wingtips are paler than I would expect with that combination.
