Agate nodules from Red Top Mountain

Red Top Mountain is an extensive agate-collecting area on USFS land on the west side of Hwy 97 about 15 miles NE of Cle Ellum, WA. The main diggings are in the woods along the top of the ridge about a half mile north of the bare summit where the fire lookout tower is located but there are other areas as well. These pieces (except the cube) were all collected by digging in the woods on the top of the ridge. The agate nodules embedded in solid basalt along the E edge of the ridge tend to be darker blue grey, and alot more work to extract.
